The artist
About
Héni Andrag is a printmaker and designer based in Stellenbosch, South Africa. With a background in fine art and interior architecture, she works primarily in drypoint and monoprint, as well as charcoal on wood, bringing a printmaker’s sensitivity to line and a designer’s sense of structure to intimate, observational work.
Her subjects draw from the Cape landscape and its fynbos, as well as quiet figurative moments exploring tenderness, doubt and becoming.
“Each medium asks for its own kind of attention: the resistance of the drypoint needle, the chance of the monoprint, and the warmth of wood grain showing through charcoal.”
Alongside the studio, Héni offers creative direction and design through HeniZ Creative Studio, and her hand-illustrated botanical paper goods and homeware are available from Elsje Designs.
